Political Climate
The political climate of the galaxy at large can be found on these respective maps, which outline which factions control various systems and clusters:
Sentarin Cluster Map Sector 4 Map Galactic Map
As a whole Sentarin is controlled by 5 major factions: The People's Republic of Sentarin (P.R.S), the First Republic of Sentarin States (F.R.S.S), the Fholn, the Issanian Caliphate, and Janos Emireen. The Republics are effectively two parts of the same faction and have what many believe to be an unshakeable alliance. Due to the expanse of their domains, these 5 major players often fund feudal sub-factions on their borders, turning a blind eye or outright encouraging them to engage in proxy wars. For the average citizen in the inner systems, this means little. They remain unbothered in their mostly peaceful worlds, feeling the ebb and flow of the outworld conflicts primarily in their wallets.
Occasionally these feudal outworlds claim independence, a dangerous ploy as this can often lead to their demise. However, on occasion, their claims are ignored - a sign that the major faction who's protection they fall within is allowing them to operate independently, at least for a time. This allows plausible deniability for that faction's actions while also removing any requirement for their own protection from any of the 5 major factions.
Within the Sentarin cluster there are 3 major wars occurring: The war between Fholn and Isheímr, the Neo-Babylonian conflict in Ealayha, and the civil war in Sojuun. Some of these are isolated to their respective regions while others risk initiating a larger conflict. However, with the new gates appearing in The Reach, the people of Sentarin now have access to what were largely backwoods systems, or even more that remain untouched by civilized nations. A new goldrush has ensued with each of the 5 major factions rushing to acquire new territory in these systems, often stepping on the toes of their counterparts in their haste. Several violent conflicts have already broken out, thus far being quelled through politicking, however many fear it only a matter of time before a real war breaks out between the major factions. Something not seen in over 200 years.
